Description:

I have looked at the new kasbar and tried figuring out what the creator was trying to accomplish. It looks like a hybrid between kpager with the background thumnail in addition to kpager with the icon set. It is an interesting development, but if we are to compete with longhorn in the asthetic realm we need to have a task/launch bar that is more three dimensional. I don't think Suns Looking Glass is exactly what we need, but it could be a start for generating ideas. This 2d approach may be practicle but it looks like it may place the desktop back to a time prior to the great accopmlishments like kroller from superkaramba. A great idea would to have like in kroller a zooming icon that would begin with the app icon then expand to a 4x4 thumbnail of the last screen shot of the app on the desktop. As you scroll across to other apps, the one zoomed recompresses to the original icon and a new app zoom from icon to thumbnail. Now this would be a practical use of the taskbar.
This is an Open Idea and if those who create karamba themes want to use this idea or want to assist me, I will be abliged. Thanks.
Eric
P.S. No screenshot, just getting idea out.

From what I've read, it sounds like you would like a thumbnail of an image appear when you mouse over an icon in a program similar to Kroller. Is this similar to the animation you get when you dock windows in Mac OSX?
If so, I would recommend contacting the guys over at KoolDock or even helping if you have coding experience.
KoolDock is written in C++, whereas Superkaramba themes are written in Python, which uses more resources. It could be done in Superkaramba, but not efficiently. With all the previous work done on KoolDock in C++, I would personally go that route. However, Python is a lot quicker to develop, and makes results appear a lot faster.

As for my background to give you this information, this is coming from someone who does coding on Superkaramba, not just themes.

Cool,
Thanks,
Your synopsis is accurate. I will work on contacing those guys at kooldock, and will experiment with the code in kroller.
