ClockMagick
Karamba & Superkaramba
Score 75%
Description:

Basic clock. I wasn't happy with the jaggies in other clocks, so I used ImageMagick's convert program to resize, rotate and add shadows to pretty it up...

Disable second hand / shadows if your CPU usage is high.

If you can't see the clock and karamba says it is running, try to find the invisible square in the top left and right click "reload".

If the clock still is invisible, you might try to reemerge qt and imagemagick with jpeg, png, tiff, gif flags, thanx dodo1122.

Switched from Ubuntu Hardy to Kubuntu Hardy and finding a decent analog clock seemed impossible. Cairo-clock is excellent if you run compiz, which I don't. My machine runs better without it and without the proprietary Nvidia driver.

Glad I took the time to search this site. Your clock is simply the best of the best.

Thanks for your excellent (and it seems underappreciated) work!

Seriously, why not let people start up this karamba theme with LINUX clock skin?

It really pisses one off when you see plain clock the next time you start superkaramba.

Anyway, great job. Looking forward to improvements and specifically ability to start up the theme with a specified skin.

Good job. Oh, I did say it already. Well, anyway good job.

Great job, but it's a little bug. I've edited the clock_magic.py file:

enable_seconds = 1

The second hand appeared but the clock doesn't work (second hand doesn't move). If I enable second hand throught menu, it works correct. And after the exit from Superkaramba ClockMagik doesn't save the config file.

Theme would be great if I could get it to save using the Thick hands, and the NIX clock permanently. Everytime the crazy thing reloads it loads the plain clock face. All the other settings will stick but the two I would really like.

Get those two working and I'll be running it.

The clock is invisible when I add it to the desktop. I'm using Kubuntu 7.04 with superkaramba and imagemagick installed from the repositories. I tried reload and update theme...both had no effect. I'd really like to use this theme. How do I make it visible?

This clock theme is a piece of sh*t. It is invisible so its useless to me. Also, no one seems to know how to fix it, not even the owner.

I worked out a fix. At least, it fixes it on mine. Here we go...

1) Open up the superkaramba window and make sure any instances of 'clock magick' are uninstalled.
2) rename the downloaded file from 50846-clock_magick.skz to 50846-clock_magick.zip
3) Unzip the downloaded file to a folder.
4) Copy all of png files (images) to the "/home/YOURNAME/.superkaramba/clock_magick " folder.
5) restart clock magick. This can be done by starting the original (.skz) file or by going into the unzipped folder and starting 'clock_magick.theme'

Hope this works for you.

All the best

to unzip a .skz isn't necessary to rename it to .zip.. just make a "unzip FILE.skz" ;)

Hi

Thanks. I know that. It just works a bit easier in ARK and Konqueror that's all.
I tried to open the .skz file in ark (instructing it that it was a zip file) but it wouldn't open. However, it would if I changed the extension to .zip first. Strange;)

Thanks anyway :)

All the best

If your clock is invisible do this:

(1)cd ~/.superkaramba/clock_magick
If this directory does not exist, create it.

(2)unzip your .skz into here:
unzip clock_magic.skz

(3)import your theme into S.K. via GUI

New to SuperKaramba. Where is the clock_magick.py file? Doesn't seem to be one on my machine. There are 50846-clock_magick.rc and clock_magic.cfg files in my .superkaramba directory, but entering "cur_arrow=1 #thick hands" in these files doesn't work (unless I'm entering them incorrectly).

A little help would be appreciated.

Thanks

It is a .skz file named clock_magick.skz.

Make a temp dir to hold the contents. "unzip" the file into that folder. Then you'll get your .py file.

I just did this because the theme does not retain my clock face, hands, and size options. So... I simply edited those options into the .py file. ;-)

Okay, I right clicked the transparent area and selected reload to no avail.

I don't seem to be able to get this widget to show itself.

Any thoughts.
